Deputies searching for burglar who stole rifle from Seffner home

SEFFNER — Deputies were searching Friday for a burglar who stole a rifle from a home and might have been spotted a short time later inside a nearby business.

Deputies responded about 4:13 a.m. to a 911 call reporting a burglary at a home on the 10000 block of Mango Road, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. About seven minutes later, another resident in the area called 911 after seeing a man dressed in all black clothing and holding a rifle. When the homeowner confronted the man, he ran away.

About six minutes after that, an overnight worker at Commercial Duct Systems at 9707 Williams Road called 911 after seeing a man dressed in black with his face covered and carrying a rifle inside the building, Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies arrived within 10 minutes and set up a perimeter around the business and closed Williams Road between Harney and Joe Ebert roads. SWAT team and crisis negotiators also responded. Deputies searched the building but did not find the man or the rifle.
