TAMPA — Deputies are searching for whoever violated the Eighth Commandment and stole a statue of St. Francis of Assisi from the grounds of a Carollwood church.
Investigators say the statue was taken on April 12 at about 4 p.m. from St. Paul's Catholic Church, 12708 N Dale Mabry Highway, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reported Friday.
Made of resin and weighing 200 to 300 pounds, the 5-foot-tall statue was last seen sitting on some rocks in the church's Santo Niño Shrine area on the south side of the church.
The statue is valued at $10,000.
