Driver cited in school bus crash in Pinellas Park; no injuries

PINELLAS PARK — A bus carrying 12 elementary school children crashed into a sport utility vehicle Thursday morning but no one was hurt, police said.

About 8:14 a.m., officers said, a car stopped short for another vehicle that had made a U-turn. That car was then hit from behind by an SUV, police said, and the SUV was struck from behind by the school bus.

The crash happened in the 8800 block of 49th Street, according to the Pinellas Park Police Department.

The bus driver, Lorraine Wilson, of Seminole, and the driver of the SUV, Christopher Flynn, of Anniston, Ala., were cited for careless driving, police said.
