TAMPA — A Seffner driver was killed after he swerved off a road early Sunday and drove his van off a 4-foot embankment, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
According to the report, Joshua Paul Carroll, 27, was heading east on State Road 574 near Cragmont Drive, west of Seffner, at 6:02 a.m. when his Plymouth Voyager van went off the road.
The van traveled on the shoulder and through a fence, then flipped over when it fell from the embankment.
Carroll, who the patrol said was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the van. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he died.
Investigators said they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
