NEW PORT RICHEY — One person was rushed to the hospital after being extracted from an SUV left dangling over a bridge on Friday, according to Pasco Fire Rescue.
The incident took place at about 5:20 p.m. on an overpass at the intersection of Seven Springs Boulevard and Riverbank Drive.
Firefighters received a report that a Chevy Suburban SUV had rolled over at least once and was dangling over the guard rail of the Seven Springs Boulevard bridge, suspended about nine feet from the ground, said Pasco Fire Rescue spokesman Corey Dierdorff.
The driver was rescued by firefighters and taken to a local hospital. The driver suffered serious injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, though troopers did not yet know how the SUV overturned. The identity of the driver was not released by the Highway Patrol.
