FHP identifies SUV involved in hit-and-run of cyclist in Pasco

SAN ANTONIO — The Florida Highway Patrol says it has found the vehicle that struck and injured a cyclist on Bellamy Brothers Boulevard last month and then left the scene. Troopers are seeking the public's help finding and identifying the driver.

About 8:30 a.m. Sept. 21, a Sunday, Julio Vivo, 56, of Wesley Chapel was riding a bicycle north on Bellamy Brothers Boulevard with a friend when a red SUV struck him from behind. The driver did not stop and render aid to Vivo, who was critically injured, according to the FHP.

On Tuesday, FHP said it had recovered a red 2010 Jeep Liberty believed to be involved in the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact FHP at (813) 631-4020 or Crime Stoppers.
