Man dies in Pinellas County mobile home fire

Published Dec. 30, 2017

ST. PETERSBURG — A 41-year-old man died after a fire inside a mobile park home Saturday, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

First responders found Randy Reed dead in a bathroom hallway after they were able to squelch the flames.

Neighbors first saw thick black smoke coming from the mobile home on lot 32 at 7499 46th Ave. N at 2 p.m. The fire likely started in a bedroom, deputies said.

Reed shared the home at West Gate Mobile Manor and Apartments with his mother, who was not present at the time of the blaze.

Detectives are working alongside the fire marshal and medical examiner's office to determine the origin of the fire and the cause of the man's death, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the fire did not appear to be suspicious or set intentionally.
