TAMPA — A vehicle crashed into a Havoline Xpress Lube early Saturday morning, sparking flames that engulfed the structure, fire officials reported.
According to Tampa Fire Rescue, multiple people called 911 about 2:40 a.m, reporting the fire on the 500 block of E Sligh Avenue. Flammable liquids inside the auto shop had ignited, causing the fire, investigators determined.
Crews arrived and sprayed the building from outside until the fire was under control at 4 a.m. No one was found inside, and responders could not find the driver of the vehicle.
The fire caused $800,000 of damage, Tampa Fire Rescue reported. Anyone with further information should call 813-274-7000.
