A warehouse fire that ignited overnight in Dover damaged 6,000 square feet of space and is under investigation, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Fire crews received the call of a blaze at 14425 Haynes Rd, on Wednesday around 2 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they reported seeing flames and smoke coming through the roof of the large building. The incident was updated to a two-alarm fire due to the fire load and size of the building, officials said.

When the roof was found to be made of metal, crews determined it was unstable and a defensive attack was implemented.

Due to the amount of water needed to fight the fire, seven water tanker trucks were brought to the scene, deputies said.

It took about 90 minutes to contain the fire, and about two hours to bring it completely under control.

The warehouse is currently not in operation, and the owner told crews it was being used to store office equipment and egg cartons.

More than 70 firefighters responded to the scene in 36 units, the sheriff's office said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
