A fire in an airport community in New Port Richey early Monday destroyed three planes and four cars around a hangar, but firefighters prevented it from spreading to a nearby house, according to Pasco County authorities.
The blaze was reported about 2:12 a.m. at 8350 Cessna Drive in Hidden Lake, a residential community built around a small airport. County spokesman Doug Tobin said there were three fuselages (without wings) and two vehicles inside the hangar, as well as one airplane and two cars outside. All equipment other than the plane outside the hangar was a total loss.
Tobin said the fire did not appear to be suspicious. No further information was immediately available.
