PLANT CITY — An overnight blaze Wednesday at a Plant City home left two firefighters with minor injuries, authorities said.

The fire broke out about 9:30 p.m. at 4221 Nova Dee Lane, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the attic of the single-story home. The residents managed to get outside before the fire spread.

A lack of hydrants in the area forced firefighters shuttle water to the fire, officials said, but the blaze was brought under control quickly. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

Crews retrieved a pet iguana from inside the home. The animal was not harmed, officials said.

The residents declined temporary housing assistance from the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire was being investigated.
