Two transported to hospital after Thonotosassa mobile home fire

THONOTOSASSA — Two people were taken to the hospital after they were pulled from a mobile home fire early Sunday morning, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

Firefighters responded around 7:25 a.m. to the home at 11940 N U.S. Hwy 301, which had heavy smoke and flames coming from it, authorities said. Once inside, they found an adult male, who appeared to be in critical condition, and an adult female, according to Fire Rescue.

The two victims, who were not immediately identified, were transported to a local hospital, authorities said. A family dog and birds died in the fire, while a cat was rescued, according to Fire Rescue.

The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes and remained under investigation, authorities said.
