BRANDON — A woman was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Home Depot on Sunday, deputies say.

The shooting took place at about 9:15 p.m. at the Home Depot at 1524 E Brandon Blvd., according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. When deputies arrived they found a woman suffering from a single gunshot wound.

She was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead just before 7 p.m. Monday.

The Sheriff's Office has not released the woman's name and is not expected to because of the agency's interpretation and application of a state constitutional amendment known as Marsy's Law.

Investigators believe the shooting was drug-related. No arrests have been made and the Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the shooting to call homicide detectives at (813) 247-8200. To be eligible for a case reward, they can also contact Crime Stoppers at 1–800–873–8477, send an anonymous tip online using www.crimestopperstb.com, or send a tip with a smartphone using the P3 Tips Mobile application.
