CLEARWATER — A hit-and-run driver slammed into a parked van and sent it crashing through a downtown storefront early Friday, police said.

The collision took place at about 2:30 a.m. at 33 N Fort Harrison Ave., the location of the Church of Scientology’s Way to Happiness Foundation. The driver then fled the scene, police said.

Police said they were able to identify a license tag and located the driver, 39-year-old Nicholas J. Esposito, at his Dunedin home at 373 Milwaukee Ave.
