HUDSON – A 48-year-old man died Friday after walking into the path of a sport utility vehicle on U.S. 19.

Stephen Francis Wilson stepped into a northbound lane of U.S. 19, near Signal Cove Drive, just before noon and was hit by a Dodge Durango, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

Authorities do not know why Wilson, of Hudson, walked in front of the vehicle, though it appears he had been drinking, the FHP report said. He was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, where he died from his injuries.

The driver, Darrell Kendall Brady, of Spring Hill, was not injured and was not at fault, FHP said.
