TAMPA — A 62-year-old man was fatally injured Wednesday night when he walked into the path of a car on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The man, whose identity was not released, walked into the northbound lanes just south of Grand Pavilion Drive at about 8:05 p.m. He walked into the path of a 2007 Audi A4, which was in the left lane. The car struck him and threw him forward onto the pavement.

The injured man was taken to Florida Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Sheriff's Office believes the pedestrian may have tried to cross the road from a bus stop.

The Audi driver, 28-year-old Alen Sisic of Port Richey, was not injured.
