TAMPA — A man died on Sunday when a branch fell on him while he was trimming a tree in the backyard of a home.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue received a call about the incident at around 11:41 a.m. at a home in the 6700 block of Donald Ave., near Himes and Sligh avenues. First responders found a man crushed by a limb and suspended 30 feet in the air, said Fire Rescue spokesman Eric Seidel.
The fallen limb appeared to be 18 inches to 24 inches thick.
"He had set up a rig where he was sawing," Seidel said.
The victim's name was not released.
He was wearing a hard hat and a tool belt, but it wasn't immediately clear with whom he worked.
