SPRING HILL — A man was found dead in a house destroyed by fire on Tuesday night, according to Hernando County Fire Rescue.
The blaze took place 6444 Barclay Ave. at about 11:44 p.m. Bystanders called and reported flames coming out of the roof of the single-story home, the agency said. The bystanders believed someone might be inside but no one answered when they knocked on the door.
When fire crews arrived a few minutes later, the residence was fully engulfed by fire. Part of the roof collapsed before firefighters started their work.
When the fire was out, firefighters found a man dead inside. The agency did not release the identity of the man or any other details about the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
