Authorities identify body found in river
A man who was found dead Thursday evening floating in the Hillsborough River has been identified.
Brian James Weiss, 43, was seen swimming near the Tampa Convention Center about 4:30 p.m., according to Hillsborough County sheriff's officials. A boater in the area later reported seeing him struggling in the water.
A sheriff's dive team assisted Tampa police in searching for Weiss. His body was found about 5:15 p.m. near the Platt Street Bridge, Tampa police said.
