Man in car crash had suffered gunshot wound, say St. Petersburg police

The agency received reports Tuesday night of shots fired. Soon after, authorities responded to a car crash at Fifth Avenue S and 16th Street.

ST. PETERSBURG — Detectives are investigating a shooting and car crash that took place Tuesday night and left one man hospitalized.

Police received a report of gunshots fired at about 9:45 p.m. in the 3900 block of 10th Avenue S. Then, a car crash was reported at Fifth Avenue S and 16th Street.

Inside the vehicle was a man with a gunshot wound, police said. He was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police did not release his name or any other details about the incident.
