TAMPA — A man wanted in connection with a New Year's Eve murder in Tampa has been arrested in Atlanta.

Joseph Ervin Brown, 26, faces charges first-degree murder and illegal possessing a firearm in the shooting death of 24-year-old Isaiah Lee Morrison, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Morrison was found fatally wounded at about 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 at 13415 N Nebraska Ave. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Brown was arrested in Atlanta and will be brought back to Hillsborough County to stand trial, the Sheriff's Office said Monday. No details about his arrest in Atlanta were released, including when he was taken into custody. Nor has the Sheriff’s Office released any details about Brown’s role in the Dec. 31 slaying.

Brown has been convicted in Florida on charges of resisting an officer without violence, burglary of an occupied dwelling and grand theft. He was arrested in Hillsborough in June on charges of delivery and possession of cocaine. Records show that case is still pending.
