Four people were stung in a bee attack after coming across a wild hive of tens of thousands of bees on Sunday. Three men were taken to Medical Center of Trinity with as many as 50 stings each.
Pasco County Fire Rescue responded to the attack after getting a call at 11:26 a.m. They arrived to find the three men swarmed by bees. A woman coming out of her home was stung about a dozen times.
Firefighters sprayed the bees to stop the attack and helped the injured.
The hive, in a tree near 7805 Calabash Lane in New Port Richey, holds between 20,000 to 30,000 bees, according to Pasco County spokesman Doug Tobin.
He said residents near the hive may be at risk of being stung and should be cautious. The scene was cleared around 2 p.m.
