PALM HARBOR — A 68-year-old man drowned Monday after his wheelchair fell into a backyard swimming pool at a Palm Harbor home, sheriff's officials said.
Emergency personnel were called about 4:30 p.m. to the home at 3844 Berkshire Court.
Terry Chambers was said to have been found unresponsive after falling into the pool while in his wheelchair, officials said. His wife, Judy Burns, 64, and a caretaker, Steve Miller, 61, were home at the time, but were unable to rescue Chambers.
Paramedics attempted multiple life saving efforts before Chambers was pronounced dead, sheriff's officials said.
The Sheriff's Office was investigating, but deputies did not consider the death suspicious.
No other information was immediately available.
