Pinellas deputies investigating drowning on St. Pete Beach

ST. PETE BEACH — The Pinellas Sheriff's Office is investigating the drowning of a 28-year-old Pinellas Park man who went for a swim on St. Pete Beach.

Gary R. Tribou II was with friends Thursday evening when he entered the water after drinking some alcohol, the Sheriff's Office said. About an hour later, someone found Tribou unconscious and pulled him ashore behind the TradeWinds Island Grand Resort at 5500 Gulf Blvd.

He was taken to Palms of Pasadena Hospital, where he died.
