SEFFNER — A 45-year-old Plant City man died early Thursday when he drove into the back of a semitrailer truck as it was pulling back onto Interstate 4 from the shoulder west of Mango Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash took place at about 3 p.m. Erik Adam Walton was headed east in a 1996 Geo Tracker, troopers said.

Walton overtook and collided with the rear of the trailer, the Highway Patrol said.

The 2008 Volvo semi-trailer truck was driven by Pedro Leonardo Diaz, 53, of Cape Coral.

Diaz was driving back onto the highway after he noticed his vehicle overheating and pulled onto the shoulder to make repairs, the Highway Patrol said.
