PLANT CITY — An arrest warrant has been issued for a 27-year-old woman who is believed to have fled to Mexico shortly after police say she ran down three pedestrians last month, killing one of them.
Doris Suleyma Rosales-Carbajal, of Plant City, is wanted on Hillsborough County charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death without rendering aid; leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury without rendering aid; leaving the scene of a crash without rendering aid; driving without a valid driver's license; and tampering with evidence.
Plant City police believe she is the driver who struck three men on Dec. 2 as they were walking away from the Fuego Bar & Grille at 4103 E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The men were walking eastbound on the sidewalk or shoulder of the road, police said, when they were struck from behind by an eastbound vehicle at about 11:55 p.m.
The driver didn't stop and kept going. Miquel Hernandez Jr., 21, died from his injuries and two other men — Alexis Juarez, 21, and Jason Juarez, 20, both of Dover — were seriously injured, according to police.
Rosales-Carbajal is believed to have fled to Mexico soon after the collision, police said. Plant City police released a statement in which the department said it will "continue to work with its law enforcement partners in an attempt to locate and arrest Rosales-Carbajal."
The department did not release any other details about the case or how it identified the driver in this case.
