Police investigating shots fired at Sarasota ambulance responding to call

Once they got back into the ambulance, police say an unidentified individual fired about 3-5 shots, striking the front passenger door at least twice. That person ran away and has yet to be located.

SARASOTA — Police are investigating a shooting early Monday morning after a person fired at an ambulance after paramedics responded to a call.

Paramedics were responding to a call at the 2900 block of Goodrich Avenue around 4 a.m. to a person who had fallen.

When paramedics arrived, police say a resident at the address said a call had not been made.

Once they got back into the ambulance, police say an unidentified individual fired about 3-5 shots, striking the front passenger door at least twice. That person ran away and has yet to be located.
