Gulf Boulevard reopens after disruption of downed power line

Published March 28, 2014

Traffic resumed flowing again along Gulf Boulevard in Madeira Beach late Friday afternoon after being closed earlier in the day because of a downed power line.

The road was closed in both directions between 136th Avenue N and 137th Avenue N in Madeira Beach about 11:45 a.m. and curb lanes north and southbound were opened by 12:30 p.m. The lanes reopened around 3:30 p.m.

Deputies said a truck clipped a power line there, and they were diverting traffic in both directions while they waited for Duke Energy to repair the line. No high-profile vehicles would be allowed down the road, deputies said.
