SPRING HILL — A 37-year-old bicyclist was fatally injured Monday night after she was struck by an SUV, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Judith C. Bozard, of Spring Hill, was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, where she was later pronounced dead.

The crash took place at about 6:39 p.m. near the intersection of Wiscon and Mobley roads.

Christena D. Salgado, 36, of Brooksville was driving a 2001 Chevy SUV east on Wiscon Road, just west of Mobley Road, the Sheriff's Office said. Bozard was also riding her bike east on Wiscon.

Then, the Sheriff's Office said, Salgado passed another vehicle, and when she re-entered the lane she struck the bicyclist.

Salgado over-corrected and overturned the SUV onto the north shoulder of the road. Bozard was not wearing a helmet, the Sheriff's Office said.

The driver was not injured and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the Sheriff's Office said. The investigation is continuing.
