ST. PETERSBURG — A bystander sitting on her front porch was shot and killed by a stray bullet Sunday morning.

Aesha Kendrick, 38, was eating breakfast on her porch at 2000 45th St S. about 10:08 a.m. when a man across the street shot multiple times at a passing vehicle, according to St. Petersburg Police Department spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez.

One bullet hit Kendrick. There were children in the house at the time, but none were struck. A neighbor performed CPR on Kendrick before she was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where she later died.

Authorities said Jamel Walker, 29, was arrested Sunday evening and charged with 2nd degree murder and attempted murder.
