Tampa man, 34, killed when he hits truck that pulled in front of him

The victim, Luis Santiago, swerved left and applied the brakes, but could not avoid the truck, striking the left side, the Sheriff’s Office said.

TAMPA — A motorcycle driver died when he drove into pickup truck that had pulled into his path at a stop sign, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Luis Antonio Serrano Santiago, 34, of 6604 Madison Estates Lane, died in the collision about 7:45 a.m. Thursday at Madison Avenue and Dacca Drive in the Palm River/ClairMel area.

Santiago was headed west on Madison Avenue, driving a 2004 Black Suzuki GSXR-600, when a silver 2006 Ford F-250 that had been stopped at a stop sign pulled into his path, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Santiago swerved left and applied the brakes, but could not avoid the truck, striking the left side, the Sheriff’s Office said. Witnesses nearby called 911 and performed CPR. Santiago died at the scene.

The driver of the truck was identified Cindy Mobley, 55, of Tampa. Three passengers were in her vehicle.
