TAMPA — A car plunged into the Hillsborough River after going over an embankment near Kennedy Boulevard and Ashley Drive in downtown Tampa on Wednesday.
Police say a 37-year-old female driver has been pulled from the water. They believe she had been attempting suicide.
At 10 a.m. the woman, who has not been named, was being held under the Baker Act, which allows for the temporary detainment of people who may be a danger to themselves or others.
Authorities were working to remove her Ford Taurus from the water.
