TARPON SPRINGS — A 45-year-old man was killed Saturday night in a traffic crash on Keystone Road, near George Street South, Florida Highway Patrol troopers reported.

James Paul Wells, 45, of Tarpon Springs was the passenger in a GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by Jane Elizabeth Dietz, 51, of New Port Richey, traveling west on Keystone Road at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, according to an FHP report.

Another vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe driven by Rick Dunning, 45, from Michigan, was traveling east on Keystone Road, troopers reported, approaching George Street South.

Dunning lost control of the Tahoe, according to the report, and drove across the center grass median and into the path of the pickup truck driven by Dietz. The vehicles collided nearly head-on, troopers reported.

Wells, the passenger, died at the scene. Dunning and Dietz were taken to Bayonet Point Hospital with serious and critical injuries, respectively.
