NEW PORT RICHEY — The man who wounded a deputy in a gun battle this past weekend died Wednesday from a gunshot wound, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office..
Terrance Peterson, 62, exchanged gunfire with deputies at his house at 7349 Humbolt Ave. on Saturday after they responded to a domestic violence call. Peterson shot his wife's Amazon Alexa and then slapped her in the face, deputies said.
Peterson shot at the deputies with an AK-47 semiautomatic rifle and a handgun. He was found inside his house with a gunshot wound to the head. It is unclear if the gunshot came from his own gun or from a deputy's weapon.

Peterson was taken to a hospital, where he died Wednesday from his injuries, the Sheriff's Office said.
K-9 Deputy Chris Stone, who had suffered a life-threatening gunshot to his leg, is still recovering in the hospital, authorities said.
No charges had been filed against Peterson for Saturday's incident, the Sheriff's Office said. The only charge he faced was a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence for the call that led deputies to Peterson's house.
