Pedestrian, 34, dies after walking into path of van on W Hillsborough Avenue

The pedestrian crossed into the path of the van, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. No charges are pending.

TAMPA — A van struck and killed a 34-year-old man Tuesday night as he was walking across W Hillsborough Avenue in the Town ‘N Country area, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The identity of the pedestrian was not released by troopers.

The crash took place at about 9 p.m. Enrique M. Jorge, 44, of Marathon, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Express cargo van west on W Hillsborough Avenue near Golden Drive, just west of the Veteran’s Expressway.

The pedestrian was walking south across Hillsborough when he crossed into the path of the van, the Highway Patrol said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jorge and his passenger were not injured. No charges are pending in this case.
