TAMPA — Hillsborough deputies and fire rescue came to a mama duck's rescue on Friday when her ducklings were found trapped in a drainage ditch.

The mama duck stood watch as a man used a net to scoop each of the ducklings to safety in front of a Shell Station on N. Dale Mabry Highway. (Really, you can see her keeping watch in every photo, even the one of rescuers posing with the ducklings.)

The Sheriff's Office said the rescuers were able to pull the ducklings from the drainage pipe, return them to their mother and ensure the family made it back safely to the pond behind the gas station.
