Woman found shot inside car outside Walgreens in Brandon

Deputies were investigating a report of a woman found shot inside a car outside a Brandon Walgreens early Monday. She was reported to be in critical condition. [Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office]

BRANDON — A woman was found shot inside a vehicle outside a drug store early Monday, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to the Walgreens parking lot at 128 E Brandon Blvd. at about 1:40 a.m. to investigate a report of a woman who had been shot and wounded inside a vehicle. She was taken Brandon Regional Hospital for medical treatment, then flown to Tampa General Hospital.

After interviewing witnesses, deputies learned that the shooting took place at the intersection of Kingsway Road and E Clay Avenue, just a mile from the Walgreens.

Deputies believe the vehicle the victim was traveling in was targeted. Four people were inside the vehicle at the time. No one else in the vehicle was injured. No arrests have been made.

The woman, whose name was not released by the Sheriff's Office, was reported to be in critical condition.
