ZEPHYRHILLS — A St. Petersburg man and his female passenger were killed Saturday night when they were ejected from the man's motorcycle on Fort King Highway, Florida Highway Patrol troopers reported.

Shane Bowling, 24, was driving a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle south on Fort King Highway at 8:30 p.m. when he overtook and crashed into a 2013 Dodge traveling in the same direction, troopers reported. Bowling and his passenger, 20-year-old Caitlyn Marie Bradley of New Brockton, Ala., were ejected from the bike.

Bowling died at the scene, authorities said. Bradley was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa where she later died. Neither one was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Dodge, David Hemphill, 50, of Zephyrhills, was not injured, troopers said. He had just turned onto Fort King Highway from Phelps Road when the collision occurred.
