ZEPHYRHILLS — A 54-year-old man was fatally injured early Tuesday when he lost control of his pickup truck and ended up hitting a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash took place at about 1:20 p.m. on Morris Bridge Road near Mandrake Road. The Zephyrhills man was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 north on Morris Bridge Road when he lost control, troopers said. The truck left the roadway and overturned, then struck a tree.
The man was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa for emergency medical treatment, but later died of his injuries.
His identity was not released by troopers until his family could be notified of his death.
