Tampa Jewish Family Services assists more than 14,000 people each year.

The non-profit organization serves people of all faiths, reaching the community through programs including a food bank, counseling and educational services, financial assistance and senior care management.

On April 7, TJFS will host its annual Trifecta fundraising event, a night of music, food and cocktails at Congregation Schaarai Zedek in Tampa.

I asked Beth Gemunder, TJFS Board president, how the fundraiser benefits the organization and in turn, the Tampa Bay area.

Why is Trifecta such an important event?

It is our main fundraiser of the year and accounts for over 15 percent of our budget. In addition to coming together for a fun evening, it gives us an opportunity to showcase the services our agency provides in Tampa Bay and to recognize our generous donors.

Why should people in the community and of other faiths support TJFS?

Our mission is to strengthen individuals and families of all faiths. With our headquarters in South Tampa at the Bryan Glazer Family Jewish Community Center and our satellite location in North Tampa at the Cohn Campus JCC, our assistance is far-reaching. Our agency focuses on the basic, immediate and critical needs of an individual or family, as well as caring for people who need long-term help. We are here to help. That is who we are and what we do.

How much does Trifecta raise on average?

TJFS grosses close to $50,000 from this event. Of course, we are always striving to exceed that amount. The more dollars we bring into the agency, the more people in need we can reach in our community.

What is different about this year's event?

Trifecta 2019 will showcase delicious food tastings from local restaurants or caterers, cocktails, a live band and a silent auction. In addition, we added a music component. We will showcase the band South of Kennedy and our new dance floor. We look forward to connecting with our longtime TJFS friends and welcoming new friends.

What do you enjoy most about the event?

I enjoy seeing our donors and guests come together and have a wonderful evening, all for the benefit of our being able to better serve our community. Seeing everyone truly having fun is very gratifying. It is a great opportunity to be among friends, as well as support an agency that makes such a large difference in people's lives.

What are some things TJFS has planned in the coming months?

We will continue spreading the word about our Psychological and Social Wellness Center. We have an on-site psychologist and on-site mental health counselor who provide private therapy and counseling. They offer reduced fees and accept insurance. In addition, they offer psychological and educational testing provided on a sliding fee schedule for things such as depression, anxiety, learning disabilities, gifted and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

We are also excited about our Senior Care Management Program, which assists the entire family with navigating the maze of available services for aging loved ones.
