A pedestrian was hit by a Jeep Monday afternoon after he tripped on a curb, St. Petersburg police said. The pedestrian died at the hospital Monday night.

The incident occurred about 2:15 p.m. on 34th Street N, though police did not release a more specific location.

Police said the pedestrian was struck by a Jeep driven by Danelle Monique Mullis, 40. Police said Mullis hit her brakes and tried to avoid hitting the pedestrian, but the right front corner of the Jeep struck him.

The pedestrian was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. He died that night.

Police have not released the pedestrian’s name because they have yet to notify his family.
