Motorcyclist dead in St. Pete hit and run crash

A passenger on the motorcycle survived the crash. A portion of 34th Street has been closed for the investigation.

ST. PETERSBURG — One person is dead after their motorcycle was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of 34th Street N. and 16th Avenue, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

The crash happened about 8:20 p.m. Saturday night, police say. The driver of the motorcycle died from their injuries, while the motorcyclist’s passenger suffered injuries authorities say are not life threatening.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the motorcycle fled the scene, police say. The type of vehicle that was involved in the crash was not released.

A stretch of northbound 34th Street between 13th and 18th avenues was closed by police to investigate the crash.

Police did not release the name of the motorcyclist or the passenger.
