Police identify motorcyclist killed in St. Petersburg crash

Police said they initially believed that another vehicle may have been involved, but investigators determined it was a single-vehicle crash.

St. Petersburg police have identified a motorcyclist killed in a crash on Friday as a 56-year-old man.

Police said Kelly Leroy Quimper was driving a 2018 Harley Davidson east on Fifth Avenue N at about 4:30 p.m. Friday when he lost control in the 1500 block, drove onto a sidewalk, hit a fence and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Quimper was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, police said in a news release.
