Father fatally shoots son in St. Petersburg, police say

The shooting happened at a home on 15th Street North in the Historic Uptown neighborhood, according to police.

ST. PETERSBURG — A father fatally shot his son in the Historic Uptown neighborhood early Friday, police said.

Officers responded about 1:40 a.m. to a report of a person shot at 541 15th St. N and found 30-year-old Matthew Reda dead from at least one gunshot wound, according to St. Petersburg police.

Investigators say Reda got into an argument with his father Jeffrey Paul Reda, who then shot him.

Jeffrey Reda, 62, was taken into custody and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

No other details about the incident were released by police.
