ST. PETERSBURG — A waterfront home went up in flames Monday evening, fire officials say, injuring no one but gutting the more than $1 million residence.

Someone walking their dog noticed the blaze at the two-story home around 6:30 p.m. at 2824 Coffee Pot Bayou Blvd. NE, according to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue. The home is undergoing renovations and was vacant, said Lt. Garth Swingle.

The house was fully ablaze when firefighters arrived, Swingle said. No bystanders were injured.

By 8:20 p.m., the fire was mostly out although firefighters were extinguishing some hot spots, Swingle said.

The house had a chain-link construction fence that fire crews cut to gain entry to the property. No neighboring homes were affected, the agency said.

Investigators are interviewing the homeowner and witnesses while waiting for the site to be safe enough to further investigate.

According to the Pinellas County Property Appraiser’s website, the house is worth more than $1 million.
