ST. PETERSBURG — A 76-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car Monday morning as she tried crossing First Avenue S.
The incident occurred at 8:47 a.m. in the 500 block of First Avenue S. St. Petersburg police said Anne Gould was walking south to north across First Avenue S when she was hit by a brown Nissan Sentra. She died on the scene, police said.
Police said the driver of the Sentra remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. Police did not release the driver’s name on Monday.
First Avenue South was closed for about three hours as police investigated.
