After long delays, Topgolf has broken ground on its newest location in St. Petersburg.
The sports entertainment complex is scheduled to open by late next year at the Carillon office park at Interstate 275 and Ulmerton Road, Topgolf spokesperson Spencer Stewart said in an email.
The Pinellas County location was originally supposed to open in 2020, but residents from the Carillon neighborhood sued the city, accusing St. Petersburg of approving the facility without public comment. A Pinellas County Circuit Court judge ruled in favor of the city and Topgolf last year.
Now, construction has finally started on the site. The construction timeline hasn’t been finalized yet, Stewart said.
The three-story, 67,000-square-foot Topgolf complex will be located at 220 Carillon Parkway. It will have 100 climate-controlled bays for golf games, 200 televisions, a rooftop terrace and a bar and restaurant. It will be Tampa Bay’s second location. Topgolf opened in Brandon along I-75 in 2014.
