PLANT CITY — Fresh off an appearance on Ellen where it announced plans to release a new studio album, Rascal Flatts closes out the 2017 Florida Strawberry Festival today (March 12) with a 7:30 p.m. concert on the Wish Farms Soundstage.
Formed in Columbus, Ohio, in 1999, the group have produced a string of platinum albums with signature harmonies. It counts 13 No. 1 country hits among its discography.
The group frequents festivals and has appeared several times at the Strawberry Festival. Today's concert comes on the heels of a new single, Yours If You Want It, which is set to be on the new album Back To Us.
The group promises a return to an earlier sound with its latest release.
"There was a nostalgic feeling between the three of us while in the studio for this record, a feeling that was more reminiscent of our first albums," Jay DeMarcus said on the group's web site. "The journey we've all been on together is unreal and I can honestly say I'm even more excited about what is ahead for us.
Back To Us is not only a title of a song on the album, but a feeling that has been building around this new music. It just fits in so many ways."
The festival wraps up 11 days of largely good weather and great crowds with a second concert: Joe Nichols, known for his hit Yeah, performs at 3:30 p.m.
Today's activities also will feature the giveaway of a Stingray Chevrolet Corvette and Hola Plant City, a musical showcase at the Publix Showcase Tent that features Hispanic-flavored acts.
