A Tampa man died in an early Thanksgiving morning crash on Interstate 4, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver, a 51-year-old who has not been named pending notification of kin, was driving a Pontiac G5 west on I-4 east of Mango Road at 12:20 a.m. when he drifted and collided with a tow truck that was parked on the shoulder.

After the impact, the Pontiac erupted into flames, Sgt. Steve Gaskins said in a news release. The driver of the tow truck, Christopher P. Leipold, 34, of Dunedin, was not injured, according to Gaskins.
