Tampa police release video of man who set fire to Champs that burned down

Police urged anyone who knows the man’s identity to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.

Tampa police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man captured on video setting fire to a Champs store that burned down during protests over the weekend.

The video clearly shows a man tossing something that is on fire into the store, which soon after became engulfed in flames and collapsed.

“Can you identify this man? The subject seen in this video set fire to Champs Sports, on 2381 Fowler Ave., during civil unrest on May 31, 2020. There were thousands of dollars in damage,” police said in a tweet.

Police urged anyone who knows the man’s identity to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
